		<description><![CDATA[PBSViewer now hosted on open source google code page. PBSViewer is a free php program to view your punkbuster screens. This program ‘PBSViewer’ also known as Punkbuster Screenshot Viewer,will download pb screens. Those downloaded screens are published on your website.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://code.google.com/"><img class="aligncenter" style="border: 0pt none;" title="Google code: hoster for open source projects" src="http://code.google.com/images/code_logo.png" alt="Google code: hoster for open source projects" width="161" height="40" /></a></p>
<p>Finally I have found some time to start up a project on <a title="google code project" href="http://code.google.com/p/pbsviewer/" target="_blank">google code</a> for PBSViewer. More information of PBSViewer can be found on <a title="free php PBSViewer" href="http://www.beesar.com/work/php/pb-screenshot-viewer/" target="_self">this page</a>.</p>
<p>Google code is a place where open source projects are being hosted for free, it is mainly used by developers. There are other sites that provide this kind of hosting as well,  like <a title="sourceforge open source software" href="http://sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">sourceforge</a>, however I chose google code because it is simple, fast and reliable. Another reason why I chose for google code is that my project PBSViewer is quite small, it does not contain a lot of files and currently only one person (me) is contributing to this project. With google code it is very easy to manage the development of PBSViewer.</p>
<p>For my project I am looking for members who can contribute to this project. Several things can be done:</p>
<ul>
<li>Testing PBSViewer for different games and environments</li>
<li>Work as developer and improve/add features</li>
<li>Add new awesome graphics as artist</li>
<li>Create documentation</li>
<li>Help with translation</li>
</ul>

		<description><![CDATA[paper Abstract: In the year 2012 Rijkswaterstaat wants to finish a new version of the AHN project.
The aim of the AHN project is to create an elevation record for the Netherlands, using laser
altimetry and the principles of LIDAR. This AHN-2 digital height map will have a density of up
to 30 points/m2, cover an area of 33.800 km2 and is divided into TOP10NL tiles. Problems
faced while handling these huge amounts of data leads to the research subject: “Improving
accessibility to and handling of AHN-2 LIDAR points in relatively large map areas”. The Velas3D tool
presented here, allows for seamless selection and secure retrieval of AHN-2 data via an
interactive web interface. Highlights include the usage of the LAS file format and the LibLAS
library for storage and processing of AHN-2 data.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For the final project (also called case-study) of <a title="TU Delft minor &quot;3D Virtual Earth&quot;" href="http://3dve.tudelft.nl/index.html" target="_blank">minor 3D virtual earth</a> given at <a title="Delft University of Technology" href="http://home.tudelft.nl/en/" target="_blank">TU Delft</a> we created a tool (velas3D) to improve the accessibility and the handling of the <a title="Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland" href="http://www.ahn.nl/" target="_blank">AHN2 </a>dataset. The AHN2 (Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland) dataset is an elevation dataset covering whole Netherlands.  It contains about 10 points/m² so that&#8217;s about 338,000,000,000 points. This AHN2 dataset is ordered in tiles. With the tool velas3D it is possible to download seamless datasets.</p>
<p>The project was done in a group of 3 students (Michiel Degen, Ravi Peters and me, Brett Rijnders) all with different backgrounds (respectively: &#8220;<a title="Faculty Technology, Policy and Management" href="http://tbm.home.tudelft.nl/en/" target="_blank">Technology, Policy and Management</a>&#8220;, &#8220;<a title="Faculty Electrical Engineering" href="http://ewi.home.tudelft.nl/en/" target="_blank">electrical engineering</a>&#8221; and  &#8220;<a title="Aerospace engineering" href="http://lr.home.tudelft.nl/en/" target="_blank">Aerospace engineering</a>&#8220;). For this project we had about 9 weeks and it was supervised by <a title="supervisor Hugo Ledoux" href="http://www.otb.tudelft.nl/live/pagina.jsp?id=fe171dab-3730-4c91-ac9e-f4a4919e24af&amp;lang=en" target="_blank">Hugo Ledoux</a> and <a title="Supervisor Gerwin de Haan" href="http://graphics.tudelft.nl/People/GerwinDeHaan" target="_blank">Gerwin de Haan</a>.  The presentation was held last Wednesday March 10th 2010, it was made in prezi:</p>

<p>The name of the tool &#8220;velas3D&#8221; is partly based on the special file format we used. We used the binary las format to work with AHN2 dataset. This dataset is actually a 3D dataset, therefore we used 3D in the tool name. Since we were dealing with a Virtual Earth in our tool we also put the first letters &#8220;ve&#8221; in the name of our tool.  More information about our Velas3D tool can be found in our paper:</p>

		<description><![CDATA[In this tutorial you can see/hear my attempt at creating a transformer sound in fruity loops version 8. In this tutorial I'm only going to try to make that wobbling background sound.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><script src="http://www.beesar.com/mp3_player/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p>A couple of years ago I saw the <a title="Transformer trailer on youtube" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnwmUZuF5OY" target="_blank">Transformers</a> movie in the cinema. When I saw it I was amazed by the graphics and sound effects of this movie. I got inspired by the sound and I tried to make that wobbling sound in <a title="fruity loops sound studio" href="http://flstudio.image-line.com/" target="_blank">Fruity Loops 8</a>, so in this tutorial you can see/hear my attempt. However the sound effects in transformers consist of multiple samples. In this tutorial I&#8217;m only going to try to make that wobbling background sound. You often hear this wobbling sound in the background when a weapon charges or when autobot/decepticon transforms. You can hear this type of sound in the youtube movie I posted below, go to timeframe 0:34 or 0:47.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hjQZEnBzW0E&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hjQZEnBzW0E&amp;hl=nl_NL&amp;fs=1&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>I&#8217;m only going to mention the steps I took to create the sound effect, I won&#8217;t explain in too much detail what everything does. I think you&#8217;ll actually learn from this tutorial if you just play around and experiment with different settings, just to get a feeling for it. This tutorial won&#8217;t be hard to follow (probably too easy for some of you&#8230;), since all the intermediate steps are explained in this tutorial. Please leave a message if you like it or if something is not clear, I hope you like this tutorial.</p>
<p> </p>
<h1>Selecting a basic sound</h1>
<p>For this tutorial I used <a title="fruity loops sound studio" href="http://flstudio.image-line.com/" target="_blank">Fruity Loops version 8</a>, probably you can also follow this tutorial if you have a different version. First insert &#8216;Sytrus&#8217; (do right click on a sampler):</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step1.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step1.png" border="0" alt="step 1" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p><a title="wiki of sytrus" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sytrus" target="_blank">Sytrus</a> is a nice piece of software, it&#8217;s a synthesizer which can be used to create your own special sounds. I&#8217;m going to use it in my attempt to create a transformer sound. Let&#8217;s select a virtual instrument:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step2.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step2.png" border="0" alt="step 2" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>After right clicking on the arrow you get this screen (yes I know it&#8217;s huge list :P):</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step3.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step3.png" border="0" alt="step 3" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>From this screen select &#8216;Depthcore&#8217;, the depthcore will give this kind of sound:</p>
<div id="flashPlayer_ID_1">:::  MP3 flash player :::</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
   var so = new SWFObject("http://www.beesar.com/mp3_player/playerSingle.swf", "mymovie", "192", "67", "7", "#FFFFFF");
   so.addVariable("autoPlay", "no");
   so.addVariable("soundPath", "http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/sounds/Depthcore_sound.mp3");
   so.addVariable("overColor","#62C0FF")
   so.write("flashPlayer_ID_1");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p>Pretty cool huh? we are going to use this as a basic sound.<br />
Now left click on the &#8216;Depthcore&#8217; sample, see next figure:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step4.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step4.png" border="0" alt="step 4" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>You should get an additional screen &#8216;channel settings&#8217; like shown below:<br />
<a name="FX"></a><br />
<a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step5.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step5.png" border="0" alt="step 5" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>In this screen you can select your &#8216;FX&#8217; channel, this channel will be used later on to add some sound effects. Set &#8216;FX&#8217; to 1, you can do this by clicking on &#8216;FX&#8217; field and scroll to 1. Ok let&#8217;s add some sound by using a &#8216;piano roll&#8217;. Go back to your &#8216;step sequencer&#8217; and right click on &#8216;Depthcore&#8217;, see figures below:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step6.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step6.png" border="0" alt="step 6" width="200" height="200" /></a> <a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step7.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step7.png" border="0" alt="step 7" width="200" height="200" /></a></p>
<p>You will see the &#8216;piano roll&#8217; screen, within this screen draw a note for the c4 key:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step8.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step8.png" border="0" alt="step 8" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>Extend this key a bit, see in the next figure. The key should be at least 2 seconds long. I used the extension to avoid that the sound is repeated too quick, now you can hear the echo when the sound is finished.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step9.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step9.png" border="0" alt="step 9" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<h1>Adding effects using FX channel</h1>
<p>Now we are going to add some effects to this sound by using the mixer. Click on &#8216;Mixer&#8217;, see figure:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step10.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step10.png" border="0" alt="step 10" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>Do you remember the &#8216;FX&#8217; channel you have set? (<a title="setting FX channel" href="#FX" target="_self">if not click here</a>) Now we are going to use it :) First make sure you select the correct channel, see figure below (point 1):</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step11.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step11.png" border="0" alt="step 11" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>We are going to add effects to channel 1, which means that all samples which are connected to this &#8216;FX&#8217; channel will get this effect. Now left click on the arrow, see step 2 in figure above. You will get a screen where you can select &#8216;Fruity multiband compressor&#8217;, something like this:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step12.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step12.png" border="0" alt="step 12" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<p>After selecting the multiband compressor right click on the gain knob. The position of the gain knob can be seen in the next 2 screens:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step13.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step13.png" border="0" alt="step 13" width="200" height="200" /></a> <a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step14.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step14.png" border="0" alt="step 14" width="200" height="200" /></a></p>
<p>After clicking on &#8216;Edit events&#8217; a new screen will pop-up. In this screen click on tools (click on the wrench button) and then click on LFO (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-frequency_oscillation" target="_blank">Low Frequency Oscillator</a>). With this LFO you can add some really nice effects to your sound. We are going to use it to create the wobbling effect. Use the screen below to copy the settings, if everything is ok hit enter.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step15.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step15.png" border="0" alt="step 15" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<h1>Dynamic channel panning</h1>
<p>It&#8217;s time to add another effect, let&#8217;s add the stereo effect (I hope you don&#8217;t have a mono sound system, otherwise you can skip this step :p). Now go back to your &#8216;step sequencer&#8217; where you have your sample. First right click on the &#8216;channel panning&#8217; knob and click on &#8216;Edit events&#8217;, see screens below:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step16.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step16.png" border="0" alt="step 16" width="200" height="200" /></a> <a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step17.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step17.png" border="0" alt="step 17" width="200" height="200" /></a></p>
<p>Then again use the LFO tool and copy the settings of screen below:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step20.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.beesar.com/img/Tutorials/Transformer_FL/step20.png" border="0" alt="step 18" width="400" height="400" /></a></p>
<h1><strong>Final result</strong></h1>
<p>The final result of what you get after following this tutorial should be something like this:</p>
<div id="flashPlayer_ID_2">:::  MP3 flash player :::</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
   var so = new SWFObject("http://www.beesar.com/mp3_player/playerSingle.swf", "mymovie", "192", "67", "7", "#FFFFFF");
   so.addVariable("autoPlay", "no");
   so.addVariable("soundPath", "http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/sounds/transformers_tutorial.mp3");
   so.addVariable("overColor","#62C0FF")
   so.write("flashPlayer_ID_2");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p>I have experimented a bit with different settings and effects, here you can hear my other sounds:</p>
<p><strong>sound 1: </strong></p>
<div id="flashPlayer_ID_3">:::  MP3 flash player :::</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// < ![CDATA[

   so.addVariable("soundPath", "http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/sounds/transformers.mp3");
   so.addVariable("overColor","#62C0FF")
   so.write("flashPlayer_ID_3");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p><strong>sound 2: </strong></p>
<div id="flashPlayer_ID_4">:::  MP3 flash player :::</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// < ![CDATA[

   var so = new SWFObject("http://www.beesar.com/mp3_player/playerSingle.swf", "mymovie", "192", "67", "7", "#FFFFFF");
   so.addVariable("autoPlay", "no");
   so.addVariable("soundPath", "http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/sounds/transformers_2.mp3");
   so.addVariable("overColor","#62C0FF")
   so.write("flashPlayer_ID_4");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p><strong>sound 3:</strong></p>
<div id="flashPlayer_ID_5">:::  MP3 flash player :::</div>
<p><script type="text/javascript">// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[
// < ![CDATA[

   so.addVariable("soundPath", "http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/sounds/transformers_3.mp3");
   so.addVariable("overColor","#62C0FF")
   so.write("flashPlayer_ID_5");
// ]]&gt;</script></p>
<p>I think the last sound is my best attempt, it&#8217;s almost similar to what you hear in the background of youtube movie at timeframe 0:34 and 0:47. You can download the complete sound package here:</p>
<p><a title="contains original Fruity loop files + mp3 files" href="http://www.beesar.com/download/Tutorials/Transformer_sound_FL/FL_transformers_sound_package.zip" target="_blank"><strong>Transformer sound package</strong></a></p>
<p>It contains the original fruity loop files and the mp3 sound files. I hope you liked this tutorial and that you learned something.</p>
